Shawcross’ tackle strong but not deliberate – Capello

England manager Fabio Capello believes the tackle made by Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross on Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey that left the young Welshman with a broken leg in two places was not deliberate.

The Italian tactician admitted the tackle was a strong one but refused to lay blame on the 22-year old who he confirms will be in the England squad to take on Egypt on Wednesday night.

“I selected him before the game on Saturday. I saw the game on TV. I think the tackle was really hard and I’m upset for Ramsey,” Capello said.

“It was a really strong tackle but not one where he tried to break his leg deliberately. I’ve spoken twice with him. He’s young and it’s his first time with us. It is a little bit different for him.

“I’m happy he’s staying here. I think to stay with us helps him to forget what happened.”
