Shandong Luneng’s Ivankovic identifies Adelaide threats
Shandong Luneng boss Branko Ivankovic has identified a few key players he wants to shut down in tonight’s Asian Champions League clash with Adelaide United.
The Croatian tactician believes youngster Mathew Leckie, skipper Travis Dodd, keeper Eugene Galekovic and loanee striker Sergio van Dijk are they key men for the Reds as the Chinese outfit prepare to host their Australian counterparts in Jinan tonight.
“Leckie is one of the many good players," said Ivankovic at the AFC's official press conference at the Shandong Sports Centre.
"Van Dijk is also dangerous and the captain (Dodd) not bad.
"Their front line is very, very good and for sure that is the most dangerous part for us tomorrow.
"Also Galekovic does make some impressive saves, not just against Pohang Steelers but the whole (A-League) competition."
Ivankovic added that he had done his homework on the Reds and is confident his side will perform positively later today.
“I know Adelaide very well," Ivankovic said.
"I watched some games on DVD and I also watched the last game they played against Pohang Steelers (1-0).
"What I have to do is expect our team to make sure they perform really well."
