Seattle Sounders’ Keller refuses to talk to media after gaffe

Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller refused to talk to the media after mishandling a late shot to consign his side to a CONCACAF Champions League loss against Saprissa on Tuesday.

The former USA international made an uncustomary error in the 87th minute to hand the Costa Ricans all three points after the match ended 2-1.

Keller did not talk to media after the game but yesterday he revealed it was just bad timing.

"No, it just was timing I think - by the time everything got going. But I knew you'd be here today,” he told the Seattle Times.

Keller did admit that it simply a mistake and conceded that things like this are bound to happen in soccer.

“You know it's going to happen. You don't know when, but it's going to and you try to work like hell everyday and hope it's not the next game,” he added. “It was my time at a bad time and you hold your hand up and you try to go another bunch of games without making another mistake."
