Seattle Sounders coach Schmid explains Parke departure
Seattle Sounders Head Coach Sigi Schmid has clarified his team's position regarding Jeff Parke, two days after Parke and the team parted ways.
"Jeff came in and trained. It's probably a little bit of not how we viewed performance, how he viewed his performance, maybe not so much. Also contract issues. He still hasn't signed a contract with the league, that's still up in the air. So until those things get resolved, it just made sense to not continue with the training at the moment.
"He has to evaluate what he wants to do in his future and I think he's a little bit uncertain right now. It's tough for us to determine what his future holds when he's not sure what he wants for his future."
With regards to Seattle still being an option for Parke Schmid made it clear after being asked if the door was closed.
"No," Schmid said. "It's just a matter of us right now, we need to do what's best for the club and we need to explore all the possibilities that exist, and those range from is Jeff Parke actually going to sign with the league or is it better for us to move him to another club or is it better for us to have him here?"
