Scotland slump to defeat in Japan

Scotland struggled to make any sort of impact in Yokohama as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Japan.

Japan thoroughly deserved their friendly victory against a makeshift Scotland side who rarely posed any threat to the hosts.

However, with six minutes to go it seemed as if the visitors might hang on for a draw but two late strikes put an end to that ambition.

First Christophe Berra deflected a dangerous cross from Yuichi Komano into his own net.

And, in added time, Japan got their second when Keisuke Honda drove the ball low past keeper Craig Gordon.
