Adelaide United midfielder Kristian Sarkies is desperate to put a recent bad run of injuries behind him.

The 22-year old has appeared in just 11 matches since joining the Reds from Melbourne Victory in 2007 and has struggled to replicate his brilliant junior form that had him set for a big future.

"I think I have had a lot of bad luck with injuries, to be fair," Sarkies said.

"It frustrates me quite a lot that I am sitting around with ice on my knee or ankle, watching the boys training.

"There's something for me and everyone to play for and I am just looking forward to the season starting.

“I would like to be back out on the park again, staying injury free and see what I can really achieve.”
