San Jose’s Convey confident after NYRB win

San Jose Earthquakes winger Bobby Convey believes his side’s semi-final win over New York Red Bulls has given the team plenty of confidence heading into the Eastern Conference final.

The Quakes overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat New York 3-1 at Red Bull Arena on Thursday to book their spot in the conference final where they will take on Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday.

Convey, who scored two goals and set up the other in the win, is of firm belief that San Jose can record a victory over the Rapids and go through to the MLS Cup final.

"Everyone believes we can win after watching that game and having that experience can boost the confidence for the remainder of the season and beyond," Convey told Soccer365. "It was probably the most exciting game I have ever been a part of in MLS and I am so happy for the guys and coaches of our team."

Convey admitted that the family atmosphere at the Quakes had gone a long way to making the playing group very tight and determined to win for each other.

“It is very family-oriented here and I think we all play well together because we dont want to let Frank or each other down," declared Convey. "Everyone is very competitive but supportive of each other and there is no better feelings then winning with a bunch of guys who all really like each other."
