Real Madrid tried to involve Inter Milan in auction for Spurs signing Van der Vaart

Tottenham signing Rafael van der Vaart could have been preparing to face his new club in the Champions League.

Before selling him to Tottenham, Real Madrid offered the midfield schemer to Inter Milan in the final hours of the summer market.

Real were convinced Inter would be interested, but received a negative response from their director general Marco Branca.

Now, Inter will face Van der Vaart in the Champions League as they're grouped with Tottenham.

Look at Inter's midfield at the moment....where would VdV fit in ???...at Spurs, he's a natural shoo-in for a 5-man midfield !
