Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is ready to offer £20 million for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Sunday Express says Mourinho’s planned swoop comes after Chelsea closed the door on his attempts to sign Didier Drogba.

Mourinho would love to be reunited with Drogba, the Ivory Coast forward he signed for Chelsea for £24m in 2004. It is believed that while Drogba is tempted by the opportunity to play for Real Madrid, Chelsea insist the 32-year-old remains at Stamford Bridge.

So Mourinho is now ready to switch his sights to Adebayor.

The former Arsenal star, signed for £25m last summer, found himself on the bench under current manager Roberto Mancini when City opened their season at Spurs last weekend.
