Real Madrid boss Mourinho at loggerheads with Florentino over Pepe contract

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is insisting Pepe be awarded a new contract.

The Portugal defender is inside the final two years of his current deal and is seeking a bumper pay-rise on his €1.8 million salary.

Sport says Real president Florentino Perez has no interest in meeting Pepe's demands, indeed he wouldn't shed any tears if Pepe left the club. Florentino is unhappy with the image Pepe offers Real, particularly after his infamous meltdown against Getafe and regular suspensions.

But Mourinho, who shares the same agent with Pepe, is adamant his countryman must be kept on.
