Rea Madrid star Ronaldo, Mourinho in touch with Beckham

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho were among football identities to get in touch with David Beckham ahead of him undergoing Achilles surgery last night.

The Times says Beckham will return to London to begin his rehabilitation today with words of encouragement from fellow members of the footballing aristocracy ringing in his ears.

Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho and former Manchester United winger Ronaldo were among those who telephoned the former England captain, who is determined that the ruptured Achilles tendon injury he sustained on Sunday will not end his career.

The 34-year-old will spend the next few days in London with his family, including Victoria, his wife, who joined him in Finland yesterday, before returning to the United States where he will step up his rehabilitation.
