Razor: Flat World Cup forcing Torres to stay with Liverpool
Liverpool hero Neil Ruddock believes Fernando Torres would have quit the club if he'd enjoyed a better World Cup.
Ex-Anfield centre-back Ruddock reckons it could cost Torres a move and play into Liverpool's hands.
"I think Torres will stay," Ruddock told the News of the World. "Maybe he wouldn't have done if the World Cup had gone differently.
"I reckon a few people were put off due to his injuries and form as he didn't look the same player.
"Even though he won the World Cup, he didn't have a good tournament and I think it did Liverpool a favour.
"But if Javier Mascherano wants to go, he should.
"Even in a dressing room, if a player falls out with a club, the other players want him to go as well.
"The South Americans don't seem to like the truth when they're told they're doing something wrong.
"Mascherano seems a bit fiery on the pitch and, although I don't know him, I think the way you see him on the pitch is the way he is in the dressing room."
