Quinn reveals Sunderland relegation clauses

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says every player has a relegation clause in his contract.

Newcastle United were caught out this season when they were relegated and Quinn says there's no danger of the Black Cats suffering similarly.

“Anybody who comes to this club has to agree to a 40 per cent deduction in the event of us getting relegated and it’s the same for senior staff and players already here who sign a new contract,” Quinn told The Times. “People might think of it as Armageddon, but we would be safe financially.”
