Queensland Roar optimistic about upcoming A-League season
After the release of the 2009/10 A-League draw, the Queensland Roar are optimistic about the new season.
With the addition of two new clubs, both based in Queensland, the Roar are expecting bigger crowds this season as cross-town rivalries and derbies begin to emerge.
General manager Peter McLennan said that overall, the club was quite happy with the way the draw went for them.
“We are delighted with the new season draw,” McLennan said.
“The fact we have the first big blockbuster against Gold Coast United in round one at Suncorp Stadium will potentially launch the Hyundai A-League with a 40,000 plus crowd.
“The draw is a fantastic reward for our loyal fans who have stuck with the club through thick and thin over the past four years.
“These fans have been an important asset to the development of the A-League and deserve to see the Roar at home in such a big local derby first up.
“We are very optimistic about the season ahead, with Suncorp Stadium to hose Gold Coast United and Sydney FC twice and North Queensland Fury on Wednesday the 16th December, which falls in the holiday period.”
