Pressure relief for Hull boss Brown

Hull City boss Phil Brown was relaxing quietly with a pint of Guinness after the Tiger’s last-gasp win over Stoke City on Sunday.

The win has relieved some pressure from the under-fire manager and enabled Hull to move out of the relegation zone whilst notching up their third home win of the season.

The Tigers came from behind to record a vital three points thanks to goals from Seyi Olofinjana and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Hull assistant Brian Horton said Brown was enjoying the win away from the spotlight.

"He's having a Guinness - he deserves one," said Horton, when asked about Brown's absence at the post-match press conference.

"He does like the spotlight - there's nothing wrong with that - but tonight he's chosen not to.

"He's just come out of the spotlight. He's having a Guinness. Why shouldn't he?

"He's a good manager and does lots of good things that people don't see. He's got a great future in the game."

Horton added that he believed Hull thoroughly deserved the win and praised Brown’s performance as manager.

"It was a good display. I thought the manager got the tactics spot on,” he added.

"We called for a big effort from them, and I thought they responded brilliantly.

"There's a great feeling in the dressing room. It's like we've won at Wembley again."
