Portsmouth hit by major Premier League fine

Portsmouth have been hit by a £1 million fine from the Premier League.

The Sun says it is the latest financial blow to hit the club who are in administration with £80m debts.

The Prem will not have to wait for the cash like most of the creditors.

They will take it from the £6m TV money and other funds withheld from Portsmouth as they try to help pay the club's footballing creditors.

The charge relates to financial issues.

A Prem spokesman confirmed: "Portsmouth have been fined for a series of breaches of our rules and regulations during the course of this season."
