Portsmouth defender Wilson huge fan of Liverpool star Gerrard

Portsmouth defender Marc Wilson is looking forward to his battle with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard tomorrow night.

The Republic of Ireland hopeful rates the Reds skipper as one of the finest footballers on the planet and feels he can learn a great deal from our no. 8.

"I'm looking forward to it. Obviously, Steven Gerrard is a world-class player and you want to play against the best," said Wilson.

"He's a different class - year after year he scores great goals. He's strong, quick, a great passer of the ball, great vision, a great example to young players out there.

"I think he's a great leader who leads by example. Every game he puts 100 per cent in."
