Portsmouth’s Grant backs James for England spot
Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has given his full backing to goalkeeper David James to take the number one spot in the England national squad.
The Israeli tactician believes 39-year old James is the best English keeper in the game and has no doubt that Three Lions boss Fabio Capello should take him to South Africa later this year.
“For me it's nothing new. He's played so well all season," said Grant.
"He's had maybe one bad game, against Chelsea, but other than that he has played very good and for me he is the best English goalkeeper by far."
