Perth Glory squad shaping up well – Harnwell
The 2009/10 Perth Glory is shaping up well according to veteran Jamie Harnwell.
Harnwell believes the additions of Mile Sterjovksi, Jacob Burns and Andy Todd and the impending arrival of Chris Coyne has given more depth to the playing list which he feels is at its strongest since the championship-winning days of the National Soccer League.
“This is the strongest squad we have had for a long, long time, going back to when we won our championships there was that competition for places that we have got now," Harnwell said.
"It is something we have been lacking for a number of years. It is going to be hard to get in the starting line-up, and that pressure for places will hopefully lead to better performances.
"The intensity has risen straight away. When they are coming from that higher standard everyone raises the game around them.
"They are very comfortable on the ball, like to get the ball down and play, that has brought that extra bit to training."
