Perth Glory say no animosity between Ferguson and Fowler
Perth Glory have rubbished claims that marquee striker Robbie Fowler will not see out his contract with the club.
It is not the first time there has been premature departure rumours involving the ex-Liverpool star who was linked with an early exit after a run-in with coach Ian Ferguson when at North Queensland Fury last season.
Glory director of football Dave Mitchell has dismissed any claims that the ex-England international was again not seeing eye-to-eye with Ferguson who has taken over at the Western Australian outfit.
“Robbie came back (from the UK) today and I'd expect he'd be playing against Sydney FC on Sunday, and then travelling to Sydney the following weekend when we play Central Coast Mariners (at Sydney Football Stadium)," Mitchell said.
"I can assure you there's no animosity between Robbie and Fergie. What happened between them at North Queensland Fury was blown out of proportion.
“Robbie's wife and kids have gone back to England and we gave him permission - when there was a window of opportunity (FIFA break) - to go back and see them," Mitchell added.
"Fergie will sit down with him and see how he feels but I am sure he'll be part of the squad on Sunday and travel the following weekend."
