Perth Glory’s Mitchell cautious of ‘understated’ Central Coast

Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell has warned his players to not underestimate the Central Coast Mariners.

Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell has warned his players to not underestimate the Central Coast Mariners.

The clubs clash tonight in Round 5 of A-League action in the nation’s capital, Canberra, and Mitchell is cautious of Lawrie McKinna’s ‘understated’ side.

"They are understated as a football side," Mitchell said.

"They're a big, strong side and are very good at set pieces, but they also play good football. They've got potential goalscorers across the park.

"If you want to be tough and bully them, they can do the same back.

"Normally they don't lose two in a row so they'll be ready for us for sure."

Although Mitchell was prepared to err on the side of caution, he was also supremely confident that his Glory were good enough to get the job done.

"We've won two games but we are looking forward to slowly building and getting better throughout the year," Mitchell added.

"Our goal is to get into the finals. Top six, then you want to get into the top four, then the top two.

"So it's progression week by week and by winning games it breeds confidence."
