Perth Glory defender Chris Coyne admits his team needs to improve on their travels.

The Glory have jumped to fourth on the A-League after a 2-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday night but have dropped both of their away games so far this season.

Ahead of a trip to Canberra to meet Central Coast Mariners this Friday, Coyne said it was imperative that the players responded better to travel.

"You can't be seen as a soft touch," Coyne said yesterday. "We've got to build a siege mentality where it's us against them.

"You've got to be resolute and you've got to be tough and make sure you're horrible to play against and you're hard to beat wherever you are.

"Any successful side has got that hard edge to them and no one is going to knock them over easily."
