Free agent Michael Owen is on the verge of a shock move to Manchester United.
The former Newcastle United striker has agreed terms to a basic deal which would see him paid more as he performs.
It is believed the deal is worth £20,000 a week, some £90,000 less than what he was on with the Magpies, and includes performance-based bonuses.
Owen is set to undergo a medical which could take place as early as today.
