Nth Qld’s Agius: Focus is on us taking our chances
North Queensland Fury midfielder Fred Agius says the team are intent on righting their wrongs after the 5-1 demolition job handed to them by Central Coast Mariners on Saturday night.
Not for the first time this season, the Fury looked frail in defence, conceding at least 3 goals for the fourth time in their debut campaign.
But Agius suggests that the Fury should focus more on scoring their own goals as they definitely create enough chances throughout games, it’s just their lack of finishing that is letting them down.
“We had a good talk about it on Monday and we know we’re a better team than the result showed,” Agius said.
“One of the things we spoke about was how important it is for us to put our chances away.
"If you watched the game, we had a lot of chances and we could have levelled the game up if we’d put a few away and then gone on with it.”
Agius added that it was important to put up a good performance against Adelaide United in front of a expected healthy home crowd this weekend.
“It’s good for the crowd… we had a good crowd on the weekend and obviously they want us to put in a good performance against Adelaide,” he added.
“A few other results went our way on the weekend – other teams near the bottom obviously didn’t win so we’re still there and we’re three points off sixth spot so if we can get the goals to go in and get the results we can go up the ladder.”
