Notts County swoop for Dundee Utd striker

Free agent Kevin Smith is set to leave Dundee United for a one year deal with League One new boys Notts County.

The 23-year-old striker initially wanted a two-year contract.

However, having impressed during a recent trial period, a compromise has now been reached and the relevant paperwork will be put in place on Monday.

"It's still a one-year deal but we have enhanced it," County chairman Ray Trew told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We've met in the middle and we are glad to have finally agreed terms with him.

"We were not confident at this moment in time to give him two years. If he performs on the pitch, we will give him an extension to the contract."
