North Queensland Fury captain Ufuk Talay has questioned former teammate Robbie Fowler’s decision to travel back to the UK during the A-League’s week off.

The Perth Glory striker returned to England last week and is due back in Western Australia either today or tomorrow but Talay wonders whether he will be right for when he meets his former club in Townsville for the Week 10 clash at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

"I think that might be an issue, it's a long way away," Talay told the Townsville Bulletin of Fowler’s whirlwind trip.

"Hopefully he is tired when he comes here and doesn't perform to the best of his ability.

"That's the decision they've made (to travel) his family's over there obviously with the break they've had he's seen an opportunity to go over and see them, so that's the decision that they've made."

But Talay was well aware that the ex-Liverpool star could still match it with the best in the A-League, regardless of jetlag.

"If Robbie Fowler's flying first-class, (maybe jetlag won't be) a problem," he quipped.

"He's a great player maybe he's not the same player he was 10 years ago but he can still thread those balls though and create opportunities for other people, so it's going to be a tough game and we are going to enjoy having him here."
