North Queensland Fury leave Fowler to Perth Glory
North Queensland Fury have dropped their pursuit of Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler.
The Fury have been priced out of a deal, with Perth Glory and Sydney FC willing to go higher for the Fury captain.
''The club has discussed with Fowler's management the level we can go to to have him here next season,'' Fury chief Archie Fraser told the Townsville Bulletin.
''We have been surprised to learn that the indications are other clubs are offering higher than his previous contract with the Fury.
''It is disappointing for us and for our fans but we have to acknowledge that it is most likely he will be playing elsewhere and we need to now move on.
''The positive news for our fans is that it now does free up a substantial amount in our salary cap for the Fury to aggressively seek a number of quality players for the club.''
