North Queensland’s Agius hoping for positive homecoming against Adelaide

North Queensland Fury midfielder Fred Agius is hoping his return to South Australia is fruitful for his club.

North Queensland Fury midfielder Fred Agius is hoping his return to South Australia is fruitful for his club.

The 25-year old Adelaide-born Agius has been unable to fight his way into the Fury’s first team but after three losses in a row, he is eyeing a place in Ian Ferguson’s team for the clash with the Reds at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.

I had to leave home to get an A-League contract, and being from Adelaide, I really want to play this game,'' said Agius.

“I really want to be playing every week. It was a bit of a shock when I wasn't picked at the start of the season.

“I've got to make sure when I do get my chance, I don't let it slip.''

Agius believes it is a good time to notch up the club’s first win as Adelaide are likely to be vulnerable following two losses on the trot.

“We're catching them at a good time because their confidence could be down after losing two in a row,'' he added.
