Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was surprised by Real Madrid's elimination from the Champions League last night.
While United thrashed AC Milan 4-0, Real drew 1-1 at home to Lyon and were bundled out of the competition 2-1 on aggregate.
"I was surprised at Real Madrid's result tonight. European football is very tough now," Ferguson said.
"In the last few years English clubs have done very well and I think they will be there again.
"It doesn't matter who we play in the quarters. We are there and hopefully we take advantage."
