OK...it seems some brum fans are lacking simple brain function, some cant even debate without throwing in more vulgarities than adjectives, some may not even know what an adjective is :) ! Right Spuddy, try to read things in 'context' son, do you understand that concept?? I specifically said in the EPL, do you think Celtic would still have Samaras and Hinkle if that were the case? Clown! They would be operating with a far higher budget..try to think before laugh for in the end, the joke is on you. Anyway. One reason I think why the old firm wont get into the EPL - and I think rightly so - is religious bigotry. If that baggage was disgarded like the belief in a non-existent 'god' they would represent an attractive package. Truely, the difference between the fans is the shirt they covet. (Give or take the odd riot notwithstanding)

"We have a massive US following from Portland"..if that is the only response to try to match Celtic's WORLDWIDE following then you really have not got a clue pal. CFC have over 1 millions followers in Nth America alone! That is not to mention the fans the club have all over the rest of the world. You really cannot argue this point mate. Fanbase completely eclipses anything Birmingham have to offer.
Celtic Football Club as a previous poster mentioned are an institution, yeah they play in the SPL but hardly their fault they are restricted by their geographical location. You also seem to forget that in recent years Celtic have played and beaten EPL teams in Europe, memories of the UEFA Cup run when beating Blackburn and Liverpool. Not to mention beating Man Utd a couple of seasons back.
Celtic's fans have also won the UEFA Fair Play Award AND the FIFA Fair Play Award.
As for selling players to 'Boro, those players were mince. McDonald was the only non-fringe player and even Celtic fans will admit he was not up to the races. However, Celtic's transfer policy is completely dictated by the income they receive which is a drop in the ocean compared to what is on offer in the EPL. I'd love to see Birmingham operate on their transfer and wage budget. Funny how Birmingham fans are suddenly coming out shouting about the size of their club once they get a bit of foreign money to spend too. You might manage to stay outa the championship for a couple of seasons now!
Also, as one poster mentioned the EPL clubs would be shitting themselves at the thought of going to a packed out Celtic Park or Ibrox and having two more genuine contenders for European spots. In response to a comment made about the Old Firm not being wanted as they are Scottish..well where is there such opposition to Cardiff and Swansea playing in England?! Double standards..

Jim, more worthy? Are you so naive that you require this explained to you? Let me do so. The players who went to middlesbrough where fringe players and so not needed, (McDonald was sold because Celtic brought in better), but that alone is not the reason, it is also that they will get paid more in wages. Now, give me one example of a player leaving Scoland as a good player who took less wages...you'll be hard pushed I'm afraid, as money is the key here, pure and simple people go were the money is.

As an example of team size, if Celtic were to play in the EPL and thus have equivelent finances, I assure you without question that they would be able to compete for any world class player, possibly only to be out picked by Man-U alone, if the choice was between say...Arsenal and Celtic as a destination for a Messi as example, and Celtic could pay the same wages etc, theres only one winner.

the last time Birmingham were in Europe they went to the Inter Cities Final which is now the Champions League final I'm unaware of Celtic doing that?
1)Well for starters Celtic were the first club to win the european cup, im unaware of birmingham doing that!
2)the premiership is a far more competive league, but dont birmingham also play in the championship every second year?

4)yes they do have a better squad, but a club is more than the current crop of players, its the fans and the history, the stadium all of which the brum cant compete with after all i dont see to many brum bars in the us, or asia. Celtic are a institution, with a massive worldwide following. this is what they mena by bigger club!
