Portsmouth boss Grant: Chelsea skipper Terry will remain England leader
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Mon, 02/08/2010 - 03:26
Portsmouth boss Avram Grant believes Chelsea captain John Terry will remain a leader inside the England dressing room.
Terry missed the penalty against United that cost Chelsea the 2008 Champions League in Moscow and, ultimately, Grant his job.
But Pompey's embattled boss prefers to remember the man who galvanised the Stamford Bridge dressing room for him, following Jose Mourinho's departure, in a way that marked him out as a leader of his club and, until Friday, his country as well.
"He will still be a leader because that's what he is," said Grant. "Sometimes you don't need the armband to lead a team."
