Readers back Gerrard for England captaincy
In a recent poll conducted on tribalfootball.com, readers prefer Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard for the captaincy role rather than Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand who replaced John Terry during the week.
England manager Fabio Capello stripped Terry of the mantle after news emerged over his affair with ex-Chelsea teammate Wayne Bridge’s former girlfriend and immediately installed Ferdinand to lead the Three Lions.
But tribalfootball.com readers believe Gerrard would be a better leader for the nation to compete in sport’s biggest tournament which kicks off in June this year.
The Reds midfielder so far has 65% of votes compared with Ferdinand’s 35%.
