Racing Santander coach Portugal: Canales on way to Real Madrid

Racing Santander coach Miguel Angel Portugal has all but confirmed Sergio Canales will be joining Real Madrid.

Last night, Portugal let slip Canales would be moving to Madrid.

He said: "The most important thing for Canales is that he goes to this club (Madrid). The most important thing for Racing, is that the team is settled."

When told he had accidentally confirmed the transfer, Portugal laughed: "Hah! Well, I guess I'm going to get a rap over the knuckles for that!"
