Ex-Brisbane captain Moore again linked with Gold Coast
Former Brisbane Roar captain Craig Moore is still being closely linked with a move to rival A-League club Gold Coast United next season.
The Australia international left the Roar at the end of last year to take up an 18-month contract with Greek Super League club AO Kavala ahead of this year’s World Cup in June but is likely to return to the A-League after that stint.
United assistant coach Paul Okon admitted a player like Moore would be a great asset for the club but insisted that nothing had yet been sorted and the likely wages the 34-year old could demand may make it a tough task to bring him to Skilled Park.
“I think any A-league side would be foolish not to talk to Craig Moore if he is available, but I believe that he's got more important things at the moment he's got a World Cup to look forward to,” Okon said.
"After that I'm sure Gold Coast would talk to him but first and foremost it's about the salary cap and I'm sure Craig can command good money still in Europe and more so back in the A-league but I'm sure the club would try and do something.”
