No Arsenal return for Ljungberg
A return to Arsenal is out of the question for Seattle Sounders midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.
The former Sweden international was at Emirates Stadium on Saturday to watch his old club defeat Stoke City 2-0 and after stating that there was a chance of going to a European club on a loan deal in between MLS seasons, Arsenal was immediately named as a potential place he could land.
But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said Ljungberg was not in town to discuss that option and expected him to return to the Sounders.
“I saw Freddie, we had a chat and he was with us in the dressing room. But he didn't ask me about training with us so that will not happen,” Wenger said.
“He is doing very well in the US but that doesn't surprise me. He's a very good player.”
