No grudges held between Victory and Ney Fabiano
Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick has confirmed that there is no bad blood between the club and departing striker Ney Fabiano.
The Brazilian goalscorer decided to leave the reigning A-League champions to return to the Thailand Premier League where he received an offer from Bangkok Glass FC.
The 30-year old joined the Victory in May 2008, joining from Bangkok’s rivals Chonburi FC after impressing against the Melbourne club in the Asian Champions League but recently fell out of the first team and decided to leave for greener pastures.
Merrick said no grudges would be held over Fabiano’s decision and wished him well in future endeavours.
"We had open and frank discussions about a month ago, we talked about his new contract, he was getting really good offers from Thailand," said Merrick.
"We would never hold a player back from being a regular first-team player and earning good money especially at the age of 30 so he had good options and we didn't stand in his way and he's gone off with our blessing."
