Soler to be appointed NYRB sporting director
The club is yet to confirm it but Erik Soler will be appointed the new sporting director at New York Red Bulls.
The Norwegian revealed the news on a Champions League broadcast earlier this week and it was backed up when another source said it was a done deal.
A report in the New York Post revealed the following: ‘"I will lead the whole team, but the focus is on the sport side. That is where I will specialize,” Soler said according to VG Nett. At least, that's what Google translated from Norwegian to English. "The plan is to be part of building a great club. We have a fantastic support from Red
Bull. Such a challenge is difficult to say no to. Now all that just to get a work permit so I let into the country.”’
Soler is a former Norway international who also played with Lillestrom, SK Brann and Hamburg – the latter being where he met the sporting director of all of Red Bull football, Dietmar Beirsdorfer.
