Carew: Villa, Spurs can gatecrash top four
Aston Villa striker John Carew sees Tottenham and themselves capable of gatecrashing the top four.
Villa face free-scoring Tottenham this weekend.
Carew told Villa's website: "We know we have a team good enough to compete for fourth place and there is no reason why we should be scared of Tottenham or the likes of teams like Manchester City.
"I think we have proved we can compete with them.
"We have finished in sixth place for two seasons in a row now and I think the squad and the team has been the best it has been since I came here.
"I think we have every chance this year. We proved that last year although we didn't manage to last for the season.
"Things happen suddenly in this league and change very quickly.
"We just have to manage the confidence for the whole season this time and keep our performances up.
"Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham all want to be up there and we have to believe we are good enough to compete with them.
''I don't think there is any reason why we can't be. We will certainly be having a go at it."
