Blackburn No2 McDonald still has management ambitions
Blackburn Rovers No2 Neil McDonald admits he still has ambitions of managing.
McDonald is no stranger to management having been in charge at Carlisle between 2006 and 2007, then at Swedish outfit Ostersunds FK in 2007.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It was a fantastic experience at Carlisle.
"I took over a team that had double promotion and we finished eighth, our highest finish in 27 years. We also had the highest home attendance in over 27 years.
“We played some good football and then you get the sack after one game the following season. That was strange but it was the owner’s decision to do that and it was his prerogative.
“I put it down to an experience you have to learn from. If it comes along it would be great to go back to being a manager again.
“I am very happy in what I do though, I enjoy being on the training field and this is another experience.
"But definitely having another go would be something that appeals to me.”
