Redknapp delighted with Spurs squad depth
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits he's delighted with the depth of his current squad.
Reflecting on their stunning 9-1 victory over Wigan on Sunday, Redknapp highlighted even without Luka Modric he had to leave internationals on his bench.
He told TalkSport: “I think it’s great for them. They’ve all got to have a good season to try and get into there (World Cup squads) and it was difficult to be honest, I ended up having to leave Jermaine Jenas out. He started against Brazil last week and suddenly he’s not even in my starting line-up which wasn’t easy.
"I’ve got feelings as well and the lad is obviously trying to get in the England squad and Tom Huddlestone and obviously (Wilson) Palacios and I could only play two of them so it was a difficult decision and that’s what happens when you have a decent squad of players. I had a bit of competition (on the weekend).
"(Sebastien) Bassong was fit and he did great for me before he got injured but he had to miss out yesterday as well and obviously up front I played (Peter) Crouchy with (Jermain) Defoe and with Robbie (Keane), I’d decided he’d had a tough week with the Irish team so I gave him and (Roman) Pavlyuchenko a sit on the bench.”
