Wolves striker Ebanks-Blake: Why I left Man Utd
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake admits he rejected the chance to stay at Manchester United.
Ebanks-Blake eventually moved to Plymouth Argyle before helping Wolves win promotion last season.
“I went into the office and spoke to him (Sir Alex Ferguson) and he said he thought that maybe it might be good for my development if I took the opportunity to play regular football at a good level.
“It was solely my choice but I took the advice of a man I believe to be the best manager in the world. I think it was a brave decision to go somewhere I’d never even heard of.
“Having a word with him at the funeral was a really nice moment on a very sad day.
“To leave a club like United in a bid to try and mount a career was something a lot of boys wouldn’t have done. I think it showed a fighting spirit and determination that he’d respect.”
