Portsmouth chief Storrie: James still England best
Portsmouth chief Peter Storrie insists David James remains England's best option for goalkeeper.
England coach Fabio Capello is worried James will not be fit enough to feature as he manages a continuing knee problem.
That saw him left out for Saturday's defeat against Brazil in Doha, as Capello opted to allow the 39-year-old some extra rest time.
Storrie is certain, however, he remains far and away the best option between the sticks for England.
He told The News: "The knee is something that David has been dealing with. But he has been able to play games and has been able to perform at the levels he can.
"I'm sure he will be back on track with England. He is the best English keeper in my book. He's still England's No1. I firmly believe he has to be the first choice going into the World Cup next summer.
"I feel he can continue to play for his country for the next few years. He'll be at his finest when we go to South Africa. I'm confident he'll be our goalkeeper at the World Cup."
