Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has been touting Younes Kaboul to France chiefs.
French technical director Gerard Houllier has been on the phone this week checking on his progress.
Kaboul revealed to The News: "The gaffer thinks about me for France. I'm really pleased and just say thank you to him.
"He has said that Gerard Houllier has spoken to him. But I don't think about the World Cup. I think about what happens here.
"There are a lot of defenders in the French national team. I don't know if it is something I deserve or not."
