Montpellier president Nicollin receives ban
Submitted by Andrew Slevison on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 00:00
The president of French Ligue 1 club Montpellier, Louis Nicollin, has been banned for two months by the French Football Association.
Nicollin was handed the ban for using ‘discriminatory and threatening’ language towards rival club Auxerre’s president Benoit Pedretti.
Following last month’s league clash between the clubs, Nicollin said his team would ‘take care’ of Pedretti in the return match and also used a homophobic comment in his outburst.
"The National Ethics committee has decided to suspend Mr Louis Nicollin from all official activities for four months, two of them suspended, for his discriminatory and threatening language," the French Football Federation said on Monday.
