Gilberto Silva: Man Utd’s Rooney has improved as player

Gilberto Silva says Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is a different player to the last time he faced him with Arsenal.

The Panathinaikos midfielder was outstanding for Brazil in their 1-0 win over England on Saturday.

Gilberto, who was in Arsenal’s midfield seven years ago at Goodison Park when a teenage Rooney exploded on to the scene with a last-minute winner for Everton, said: "He is more mature, has more experience and he has improved."
