Rooney in line for England captaincy in Terry's absence
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 11/13/2009 - 17:42
England coach Fabio Capello has confirmed Wayne Rooney will captain the Three Lions against Brazil on Saturday if John Terry is ruled out through injury.
It would be the first time the 24-year-old Manchester United striker has done the job for England, having had only limited experience of the role with the Reds.
"If John Terry doesn't play, it will be Wayne Rooney," said Capello.
"He is fit and he is ready to be a captain."
