Middlesbrough legend Juninho to make comeback with Garforth Town
Middlesbrough legend Juninho is in line for a playing comeback at Garforth Town.
The Evening Gazette says Juninho is expected to accept an invitation from Garforth owner Simon Clifford, whose strong friendship with the superstar goes back to his Boro days.
Clifford, from Guisborough, is now a successful entrepreneur who oversees the Brazilian Soccer Schools and Socatots programmes.
He has already brought former Brazilian legends Socrates and Careca to Garforth and now wants to add Juninho to the list.
The plan is for Juninho to play in at least one game for the Northern Premier League Division One North side.
Clifford said: “There is potential sponsorship available to bring Juninho here as part of a national grassroots competition.
“He has a knee problem at the moment, from his days with Sydney, but hopefully he could turn out for Garforth.

“My dream, then, would be for Juninho to play in a testimonial at Boro at the same time. I’m sure it would fill the Riverside.”
