Kewell insists Australia is serious about Asian Cup
Harry Kewell has insisted that the Australian national team is serious about competing in Asia and has set out to succeed in the next Asian Cup.
The Socceroos are in Muscat preparing for tomorrow’s Asian Cup qualifier against Oman and after a disappointing result in the 2007 version of the tournament, the Galatasaray star has confirmed the squad is determined to make up for that aberration.
"We're going to go for it. We were disappointing in the last Asian Cup and I think a lot of people have ridden that wave a lot now," Kewell told reporters in Oman.
"I think this is why they're still giving us stick because maybe they're trying to push us to achieve more knowing that we're capable of doing more. We want to put the record straight."
Australia and Oman are locked at the head of Group B on four points after three matches - one point clear of Kuwait in the qualifying stages of the tournament that will be held in Qatar in January 2011.
