Birmingham striker Jerome excited about Benitez partnership
Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome is excited about the potential of his partnership with Christian Benitez.
Two of Blues’ fastest and most mobile of players have now been selected as the spearhead for the last three matches, which have brought a win and two draws.
“We have worked on it a lot in training,” Jerome told the Birmingham Mail. “The manager has got that into us, how he wants us to play, especially against the bigger teams when they’re going to be having a lot of possession.
“We’ve got to try and dovetail and help the side out a bit more when we play the likes of Man City and Liverpool."
Benitez’s headed goal, his first for the club, came as a relief to the Ecuadorian, said Jerome.
“It was nice for Chucho to get off the mark. That will do his confidence some good. He’s been really unlucky the last couple of games.
“He’s come close, he’s hit the post a few times, it’s not happened for him,” he added.
“But now that goal will have done him the world of good and he can take it into the next few games and we can continue to build our partnership. I think the understanding is there.”
