Birmingham’s Carsley blasts ‘diver’ Ngog
Birmingham City skipper Lee Carsley has blasted Liverpool striker David Ngog for ‘cheating’ to win a penalty in the 2-2 draw at Anfield on Monday night.
The Reds were awarded a penalty when the French forward went to ground in the area with seemingly little or no contact from Carsley who was nearby at the time.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard converted the ensuing spot-kick to tie the match with just under 20 minutes remaining and grab a lucky point for his side.
But his opposite number Carsley was furious after the match and had no doubt Ngog dived to win the spot-kick.
"I was absolutely nowhere near him. It's a joke,” Carsley told ESPN.
"I knew I didn't touch him and I said to the referee to book me or send me off, it would have made me feel better.
"I'm sure he (Ngog) has got a family, well if I went home having done that I'd be embarrassed.
"You're supposed to be teaching your kids an example and that is just an embarrassing case of cheating.
"But the lad's taken a chance and got his team a point so I'm sure they'll be patting him on the back."
